Star: Ethan Hawke is bored & restless after six years of marriage to Ryan

I’m actually a little bit surprised it took this long for the tabloids to come up with this story: allegedly, Ethan Hawke’s marriage to Ryan, his wife of six years, is pretty rocky these days. Except that Ryan came with Ethan during his recent publicity jaunt to the Venice Film Festival, and they looked particularly loved up. Ethan also said recently that Ryan tells him all the time that he’s the best lover in the world. So… yeah. Except that Ethan has also made numerous statements over the past few years that people “have such a childish view of monogamy and fidelity” and human beings aren’t meant to monogamous. Plus, there were those rumors about Ethan and January Jones, remember? So… are Ethan and Ryan having problems?

Ethan Hawke is starting to feel the seven-year itch – one year early! Insiders reveal Hawke, who has been married to wife Ryan since 2008, has been taking on more film roles lately in order to psend time away from home.

“You can see him growing bored and restless,” admits a friend. “He’s been working a lot and seems to like that way.”

The couple, who are parents to daughters Clementine (6) and Indiana (3), famously got together after Ryan worked as a nanny for Ethan’s two children with his ex-wife Uma Thurman. And pals say his rocky romantic past could be telling for his current situation.

“Ethan’s been married to Ryan nearly as long as he was married to Uma… the same signs of trouble are there. His priorities are shifting again.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true and I wouldn’t be surprised if Star is full of it. It could go either way. I doubt Ethan is faithful to Ryan, which is a mean thing to say, I know. But I’m just making a completely logical jump from Ethan’s own statements. He doesn’t believe in being faithful to one woman. He’s probably fooling around, or has fooled around on Ryan. It doesn’t necessarily follow that infidelity equals marriage problems though. Plus, Ethan does seem like the kind of guy who will just stay married for six or seven years, have a couple of babies, get a divorce and then start the whole thing over again with another woman.

Oh, and as for the Doctor Strange rumors… Deadline says Joaquin Phoenix is definitely out but that doesn’t mean Ethan is in.
