Justin Bieber Tells PETA To Suck It After They Criticize His $35K Exotic Cat Purchase

Justin Bieber is at war with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) over his purchase of two Savannah kittens that set the singer back $35K. After PETA released a statement criticizing Bieber for buying exotic pets instead of adopting cats from a shelter, the Baby singer fired back on Instagram by telling the organization to “suck it.”

Last month, Bieber purchased two kittens – a brother and sister he named Sushi and Tuna – from Illinois-based breeder Select Exotics ahead of his wedding to Hailey Bieber, and he posted pics on Instagram calling the sweet felines his “children.” PETA responded with a statement that said Bieber could inspire his fans around the world to save a life by adopting a cat from a local animal shelter instead of fueling the demand for dangerous hybrid cats and contributing to animal overpopulation.

However, when PETA called him out for the purchase, Bieber didn’t apologize, he fought back.

In a series of posts on his Instagram Stories, Bieber went off on the organization. He started with a screenshot of an article about PETA’s statement concerning his cats, and then added the caption “PETA can suck it.”

Then, the 24-year-old told them what their real focus should be – poaching and animal brutality.

“UR tripping because I want a specific kind of cat?” wrote Bieber. “U weren’t tripping when I got my dog Oscar and he wasn’t a rescue. Every pet we get must be a rescue? I believe in adopting rescues, but also think there are preferences and that’s what breeders are for.”

Bieber followed up that post by telling PETA to help with all of the plastic in the ocean and leave his cats alone. He then promoted Sushi and Tuna’s new Instagram page @kittysushiandtuna.

According to TMZ, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk responded to Bieber by saying that he needs to think more deeply about this issue. She says that millions of animals are losing their lives every year because not enough people adopt, and they instead choose to shop. Newkirk says that the real problem is animal overpopulation, and “that’s what sucks.”

Ingrid Newkirk also told Justin Bieber that if he just spent one hour in a municipal animal shelter with PETA, then he would understand how hard it is to look into the animals’ eyes and know that because people pay breeders, many of the shelter cats will lose their lives. She concluded by saying that Bieber has the power to be a great role model on the issue, and Newkirk asked the singer to put that to good use.
