Idaho Adventure: Gateway Parks at Eagle Island

Publish date: 2024-04-18

Here at KBOI2, we know that adventure starts with weather.

And there's one Idaho Adventure that's right inside our urban community.

It’s located on Eagle Island where Gateway Parks has brought some of the mountain fun down to us.

For an area that usually sees limited amounts of snowfall each year, Gateway Parks doesn't leave its fate in the hands of Mother Nature.

"We make all of our own snow, almost 100% of it," said Ryan Neptune, Gateway Parks Owner.

The park has 3 different tubing lanes and even a terrain park, it brings the snow and the fun into our backyard.

"This is more convenient than going up the mountains so I feel like this would be the spot to go tubing,” said Conner Tuttle, Adventurer.

"It's fun to go down as a family and kind of hang out," said Chloe Gardner, Adventurer.

Gateway Parks brings a resort-like experience without having to travel very far.

"I just want to have fun with my grandsons and try to beat them down the hill tubing and so far, we're having a great time, we hook up together and they spin us around and we go down through there and hit the walls and just have a great time," said John Barnes, Adventurer.

To ensure everyone has a great time, you'll have to reserve a spot in one of their 2-hour sessions.

"We have the capacity for 200 tubes at a time, each session," said Neptune.

And even though we're having a hard time getting snow here in the valley you'll always find a fresh batch on Eagle Island.

"We continue to make snow just to freshen it up and make more features and more lively," said Neptune.

And with the snow they already have on the ground the park plans to be open well into spring.

Access to the terrain park is $15 dollars a session and kids under 3 are free with a parent.

Gateway Parks is scheduled to be open through April.
