DISCOVER: Trap artist Tea Sea drops emotional rap single "The River"

Publish date: 2024-04-12

Released last month, Tea Sea brings an unstoppable rap track to the table, titled “The River”. The track mixes up highly-produced trap with electronic beats and hard-hitting rap. This follows up Tea Sea’s previous single, titled “Blur”.

Tea Sea, real name Tevin Lee Church, is a hip-hop artist who was born in Norfolk, VA and didn’t start rapping until he was 16 years old, at which point he was living with his parents in Lafayette, LA. He released his debut track in 2014, titled “Settle Down”, which he dropped on SoundCloud under the pseudonym Aretë Rheí. He experimented with his sound and with his stage name before settling on Tea Sea and by then he had established to himself the music journey he wanted to take, diving into trap and hip-hop but twisting it with psychedelic vibes and emotional lyrical wordplay. He dropped his debut album, “Take Ten”, followed by nine singles, a sophomore album titled “They Live in the Walls”, and EP release in 2022, titled “Resin”. His sophomore album tracks went viral, gaining hundreds of thousands of Spotify streams, with “Vanish” being his most-streamed song with over a quarter of a million streams, closely followed by “Shattered”. With the release of this new single, “The River”, Tea Sea has officially confirmed he has reached 1 million accumulated streams between Spotify and SoundCloud.

Written by Muratov Vladislav Sergeevich, Tea Sea, Tevin Lee Church, and Turbin Alexander Igorevich, whilst it has been produced by placerbeatz and marni boy, “The River” hits back at the haters and the people who either tried to stop you from reaching your potential and from reaching for your dreams or the ones who judge you for going after what you want in life. Tea Sea goes in hard with his rap, full of passion and rhythmic flow that match the raging beats creating a juicy fluid lyrical masterpiece. The electronic backing track holds an addicting melody, sure to capture listeners all the while allowing Tea Sea’s vocals to shine. The rap is clear and crisp yet gritty and powerful, with the chorus easily becoming one that will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

Talking about the track, Tea Sea said: “It is all about respect, really. It also explores the hunger for success and the determination to not take no for an answer when people stand in the way of your career goals and attempt to derail them. I have been writing songs for over 12 years, and I have always had that mindset throughout my journey. This instrumental was made by two producers overseas who are at the grindstone endlessly trying to realize their full potential too.”
